Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect what we need to run the game, we never sell it, and we only check your location when you ask us to.

Effective date: September 26, 2026

At a glance. Limin only uses your location while the app is open, never sells your personal information, and doesn't use third-party ad networks. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.

1. Introduction

THALLOS PLENUM INC (“Limin,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Limin mobile app (the “App”), this website, and related services (together, the “Service”). Limin is a location-based quest game that encourages students to explore and take part in their campus and surrounding community.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We collect information to run the Service and make it better, from basics like your campus and profile, to how you use quests and events. This policy applies to all users, including anyone testing pre-release versions through Apple TestFlight or similar channels. By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you don't agree with it, please don't use the Service.

We've written this in plain language while aiming to be complete. If anything is unclear, email admin@liminapp.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Account details: your university email address, name, and graduation year. We use your campus email to confirm you're a student at a supported school. Limin signs you in with a link or code sent to that email, so we don't ask you to create a password.
  • Profile details (optional): an emoji avatar, major, hometown, and a short “About me” blurb. These are visible to other Limin users on your campus.
  • Content you create or take part in: events you host or join, place suggestions, auction bids, co-op quests, messages in session chats, friends you add, referral codes you use or share, and reports you submit about other users or content.
  • Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support.

2.2 Location

Limin asks for location permission “While Using the App” only. Location is core to how quests work: we use it to check that you're at a quest or event spot when you tap to check in, and to show relevant quests and places near you.

  • For most quest check-ins, your location is compared against the quest's zone on your device.
  • For some features, such as co-op quest check-ins and suggesting a new place, the coordinates of that single check-in are sent to our servers so it can be verified.
  • We do not collect location in the background, and we don't build a history of where you go.
  • Some quests may ask you to keep the app open near a place for a set time (for example, studying in a library for half an hour). In that case, location is checked only while the app is open.
  • If you turn location off, you can still use Limin, but you won't be able to complete quests that need location verification.

2.3 Information collected automatically

  • Gameplay activity: quests completed, tokens earned and spent, streaks, achievements, titles, badges, and leaderboard standing.
  • Usage data: basic in-app activity such as when you open the app, which screens you view, and which quests and events you complete or join. We use this to understand what's working and improve the app. It stays in our own systems and is not sent to advertising or analytics networks.
  • Device and diagnostic data: basic device information, operating system and app version, and error logs that help us fix bugs and keep the app working across devices.
  • Push notification token: if you allow notifications, so we can tell you about things like new boards, co-op invites, and outbid alerts.

2.4 Information from others

  • Your university: if a school offers an enrollment or email verification method, we may receive confirmation that you're a student.
  • Other users: for example, another user may invite you as a friend or co-op partner, or submit a report that mentions you.
  • Campus partners: local businesses that post deals on Limin may confirm that a deal or quest was completed. Limin does not give partners your profile or location history.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account and verify you're a student.
  • To run the game: dealing quest boards, verifying check-ins, tracking tokens, rewards, and reputation, and ranking leaderboards.
  • To power social features such as friends, co-op quests, events, and session chat.
  • To send the notifications you've turned on, and to contact you about your account, security, and important changes to Limin.
  • To keep Limin safe: preventing cheating, fraud, and abuse, reviewing reports, and enforcing our community rules.
  • To improve and personalize the Service, including suggesting quests and events near you.
  • To create anonymized, aggregated insights that we may share with partner organizations, business associations, universities, or municipalities. These never include personally identifiable information.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

4. What other people can see

Other students on your campus can see your name, avatar, title, badges, any profile details you've added, and your leaderboard standing. If you host or join an event, other attendees can see that you're part of it; you can adjust some of this in Account Settings → Event privacy. If you're matched with a partner for a co-op quest, they may see your name and the contact details needed to coordinate. Session chats are visible to the people in that session and are not kept after the session ends.

We do not share your precise location, or your individual location history, with other users or partners.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only in these ways:

  • Service providers that help us run Limin, under agreements that limit how they can use your information and require them to keep it secure:
ProviderWhat for

  • Aggregated and anonymized data that can't reasonably be used to identify you, shared with universities, municipalities, research partners, or business associations.
  • Legal and safety reasons: if required by a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Limin, our users, or the public (for example, in cases of suspected fraud or imminent harm).
  • Business transfers: if Limin is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal, and this policy (or a materially similar one) will continue to apply unless we notify you and give you choices as the law requires.

Campus businesses that post deals don't receive your personal information. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your individual location history or chat content with partners.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Edit your profile any time from your Passport.
  • Turn off location or notifications in your phone's Settings. Location-verified quests won't work without location. You can also opt out of promotional notifications while still receiving essential ones, such as security alerts and quest confirmations.
  • Delete your account in the app: Social → Passport → Account Settings → Delete Account. Or email admin@liminapp.com and we'll do it for you. We'll delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep limited records for legal, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons (for example, a record that an email was banned for abuse).
  • Request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, by emailing admin@liminapp.com.

7. U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, U.S. state privacy laws, such as those in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others, may give you the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to access, correct, or delete it; to get a copy of it; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To use any of these rights, email admin@liminapp.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and if we decline a request you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Precise location is considered sensitive information under some state laws. We use it only to provide the quest features you request, as described in Section 2.2. We don't collect health information, and please don't submit any to us.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No method of storing or transmitting information is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. After you delete your account, we handle your information as described in Section 6.

10. Students and age

Limin is built for university students and is not intended for anyone under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we learn that we have, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us at admin@liminapp.com.

11. International users

Limin is operated in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

12. This website

This site doesn't use cookies or third-party analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when you visit.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
