Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect what we need to run the game, we never sell it, and we only check your location when you ask us to.

Effective date: September 29, 2026

At a glance. Limin only uses your location while the app is open, never sells your personal information, and doesn't use third-party ad networks. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.

1. Introduction

THALLOS PLENUM INC (“Limin,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Limin mobile app (the “App”), this website, and related services (together, the “Service”). Limin is a location-based quest game that encourages students to explore and take part in their campus and surrounding community.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We collect information to run the Service and make it better, from basics like your campus and profile, to how you use quests and events. This policy applies to all users, including anyone testing pre-release versions through Apple TestFlight or similar channels. By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you don't agree with it, please don't use the Service. Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Use.

We've written this in plain language while aiming to be complete. If anything is unclear, email admin@liminapp.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Account details: your university email address, name, and username. We use your campus email to confirm you're a student at a supported school. You also create a password to sign in. We send a one-time code to that email to confirm it's yours. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, and we can't see them.
  • Business accounts: local businesses join by invitation with a business email address instead of a university email. For these accounts we collect the business name, contact email, the check-in location they pick, and the deals they post.
  • Clubs: if you request a club page or become a club officer, we collect the club's name and details, the officers' accounts, and the club quests you post.
  • Profile details (optional): a display name, emoji avatar, class year, major, hometown and flag, a short bio, and places you pick for your profile (such as a favorite spot, your dorm, or a place you want to visit next). These are visible to other Limin users on your campus.
  • Content you create or take part in: events you host or join, place suggestions, auction bids, co-op quests, messages in session chats, friends you add, referral codes you use or share, and reports you submit about other users or content.
  • Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support, in the app or through the contact form on liminapp.com (your email, and optionally your name, campus, and username, plus your message).

2.2 Location

Limin asks for location permission “While Using the App” only. Location is core to how quests work: we use it to check that you're at a quest or event spot when you tap to check in, and to show where you are on the campus map.

  • For most quest and event check-ins, your location is compared against the spot's zone on your device, and your coordinates aren't sent to us.
  • For some features, such as co-op quest check-ins and suggesting a new place, the coordinates of that single check-in are sent to our servers so it can be verified, and are stored with that co-op quest or suggestion.
  • We do not collect location in the background, and we don't store a trail of your GPS coordinates. When you complete a quest, we do save which place it was and when. That record powers your Passport, streaks, and achievements.
  • Some quests may ask you to keep the app open near a place for a set time (for example, studying in a library for half an hour). In that case, location is checked only while the app is open.
  • If you turn location off, you can still use Limin, but you won't be able to complete quests that need location verification.

2.3 Information collected automatically

  • Gameplay activity: quests completed, tokens earned and spent, streaks, achievements, titles, badges, and leaderboard standing.
  • Usage data: basic in-app activity such as when you open the app, which screens you view, and which quests and events you complete or join. We use this to understand what's working and improve the app. It stays in our own systems and is not sent to advertising or analytics networks.
  • Device and diagnostic data: basic device information, operating system and app version, and error logs that help us fix bugs and keep the app working across devices.
  • Push notification token: if you allow notifications, so we can tell you about things like new boards, co-op invites, and outbid alerts.

2.4 Information from others

  • Your university: if a school offers an enrollment or email verification method, we may receive confirmation that you're a student.
  • Other users: for example, another user may invite you as a friend or co-op partner, or submit a report that mentions you.
  • Campus partners and clubs: local businesses that post deals, and club officers who post club quests, confirm when you complete one.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account and verify you're a student.
  • To run the game: dealing quest boards, verifying check-ins, tracking tokens, rewards, and reputation, and ranking leaderboards.
  • To decide which students receive a business deal: each deal goes to a set number of students on that campus, picked at random with priority for students who have used Limin recently, and no one gets more than one business deal a day.
  • To power social features such as friends, co-op quests, events, and session chat.
  • To send the notifications you've turned on, and to contact you about your account, security, and important changes to Limin.
  • To keep Limin safe: preventing cheating, fraud, and abuse, reviewing reports, and enforcing our community rules.
  • To improve the Service and decide which quests, places, and events to add.
  • To create anonymized, aggregated insights that we may share with partner organizations, business associations, universities, or municipalities. These never include personally identifiable information.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

4. What other people can see

Other students on your campus can see your name, avatar, title, badges, any profile details you've added, and your leaderboard standing. If you host or join an event, other attendees can see that you're part of it; for events you host, you can require approval to join or show them only to friends in Account settings → Events privacy. If you team up for a co-op quest, including through random match, your partners see your name and username and can message you in the session chat. Session chats are visible only to the people in that session and disappear when the session ends; we delete them from our servers shortly after.

Your accepted friends can also see your Passport, including the places you've checked in to and when. Nobody else on Limin sees your check-in history, and no one sees your GPS coordinates.

When you claim a deal from a campus business, that business sees your name and username so they can confirm it. When you check in to a club quest, that club's officers see your name and username for the same reason. Neither sees anything else about you.

If you're a club officer, the club's other officer can see your name, username, and Limin email address, so you can manage the club together.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only in these ways:

  • Service providers that help us run Limin, under agreements that limit how they can use your information and require them to keep it secure:
ProviderWhat for
SupabaseDatabase, authentication, and backend hosting
ResendSending email, such as sign-up codes, invitations, and support messages
Expo, Apple, and Google push servicesDelivering notifications you've enabled
OpenStreetMap and unpkgLoading the campus map and the map software (these receive your IP address, not your location)
  • Aggregated and anonymized data that can't reasonably be used to identify you, shared with universities, municipalities, research partners, or business associations.
  • Legal and safety reasons: if required by a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Limin, our users, or the public (for example, in cases of suspected fraud or imminent harm).
  • Business transfers: if Limin is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal, and this policy (or a materially similar one) will continue to apply unless we notify you and give you choices as the law requires.

Campus businesses and club officers only see what's described in Section 4. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your check-in history, location, or chat content with partners.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Edit your profile any time from your Passport.
  • Turn off location or notifications in your phone's Settings. Location-verified quests won't work without location. In Account settings → Notifications you can also turn off categories of notifications (such as quests, co-op, events, auctions, and friends) and set quiet hours.
  • Delete your account in the app: Social → My Passport → Account settings → Delete Account. Or email admin@liminapp.com and we'll do it for you. We'll delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep limited records for legal, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons (for example, a record that an email was banned for abuse).
  • Request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, by emailing admin@liminapp.com.

7. U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, U.S. state privacy laws, such as those in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others, may give you the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to access, correct, or delete it; to get a copy of it; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To use any of these rights, email admin@liminapp.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and if we decline a request you can ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Precise location is considered sensitive information under some state laws. We use it only to provide the quest features you request, as described in Section 2.2. We don't collect health information, and please don't submit any to us.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No method of storing or transmitting information is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. After you delete your account, we handle your information as described in Section 6.

10. Students and age

Limin is built for university students and is not intended for anyone under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we learn that we have, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us at admin@liminapp.com.

11. International users

Limin is operated in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

12. This website

This site doesn't use cookies or third-party analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when you visit. If you use the contact form, what you enter is stored in our backend (Supabase) and emailed to our team so we can reply.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
